DAL4 departed London on March 18 and was enroute to New York's JFK when the flight turned around and diverted to Shannon, Ireland. The flight was at FL340 and about 40 minutes into Shanwick's oceanic airspace when they turned around. When they checked in with Shannon Control on the way back, they were at 10000 feet suggesting that they were having pressurization issues but this was never actually mentioned in the captured audio. They declared an emergency because they probably had to do an overweight landing and the crew was concerned about hot brakes. They asked emergency crews to standby and requested that they check their brakes after landing. The flight landed safely and the emergency crews followed them down the runway. They taxied off the end of the runway where they were checked out.
