FDX3609 Bird Strike Engine Fire Departing KEWR
« on: March 02, 2025, 16:31:30 UTC »
On March 1 FDX 3609 had just departed from runway 22L at Newark when the flight crew declared an emergency.  At about 700-800 feet the right-side engine had a bird strike resulting in an engine fire.  The crew shut the engine down an asked for an immediate return to Newark.  They landed safely less than 10 minutes later on runway 22L.  Emergency crews were ready for them when they landed.
