Title: Execjet 996 too low on approach to SFO
Post by: Acey on September 08, 2008, 10:05:43 PM
Just happened two minutes ago, tower called for him to climb twice with urgency and he didn't respond, I was actually scared for half a second. I'll try to get a clip up when I can.

I got the clip ready, but I don't want to hijack your thread, so if you haven't done it yet let me know and I'll save you the trouble.

Sorry I didn't see your post but I added the clip. Thanks for editing it though!  :-)

I know this clip isn't much and if you listen to SFO for a day you'll hear "check your altitude" likely more than once. Maybe it's the fact that he didn't respond, but listening to this live was a bit of a concerning moment!

Nice find, one of the only times I didn't have the tower on.  ;)  Someone needs to check their altimeter...

Do you know what the weather conditions were surrounding the time this incident occurred?  Clear and sunny or low clouds/visibility?

No, I don't unfortunately. The radar was showing some cells moving over but I'm assuming that tower kinda panicked because he couldn't see the plane, thus calling for them to climb twice. So visibility probably wasn't great.

Good clip Adrian8.
Marine layer starting to creep into the Bay last night. SFO was visible from my balcony across the Bay with some haze. Wish I was monitoring the tower at the time. Thanks for providing the clip!
