anyone have a recording of ATC in Melbourne (australia) when Emirates EK407 A340 tail skid/scrape on take-off at approx 10.30pm local time ?

aircraft dumped fuel prior to over-heavy landing, with smoke reported in cabin;

PRRn reports aircraft is badly damaged and still in Melb..possible write-off;

both pilots have 'resigned' from Emirates

If you go to the feedmap you will see that the feed for Melbourne is actually for YMMB - Moorabbin Airport .

Feedmap

The incident that you are referring to occurred at YMML -  Tullamarine Airport.

So, no, there isn't a recording; Maybe someone else on the vast internet has one but not here. Since the incident occurred Mar 20th 2009 and was pretty major, you could expect that if there was one, it would have been posted by now.

If you want to see details of the incident, you can usually find it at Aviation Herald.

Finally, from my own past experience, it's preferable to post these requests on the listener forum.
This forum is for completed clips. It helps with the housekeeping. If I'm wrong about this, someone please correct me.

From Aviation Herald:

"Emirates Airlines decided on Apr 21st, that the airplane will be repaired in Melbourne to a point, where it can perform an unpressurized ferry to Airbus Industries in Toulouse, where repairs will be completed."

This is a repairable accident. Maybe if the airplane was older, they may have considered writing her off. But since she is only five years old, and still has a lot of useful life ahead, it makes sense to repair her.

Another interesting note from the Aviation Hearold article, and alpal787 pointed out:

"Emirates Airlines reported on April 2nd, that both pilots handed in their resignations."

Here are a few more pics of this aircraft after the incident,  Emirates Airlines Airbus A340-541, registration A6-ERG.

Here is a pic of the aircraft involved in the incident when she was new in 2004 at Zurich (ZRH / LSZH).

And kea001, you are correct...I be willing to bet that this thread will be moved to the Listener Board any minute now... :wink:
