What software do you use to edit clips? I've toyed with various software packages before, including Audacity and Audition. Both seem to work great, but curious if there are any other packages out there that are "easier to use" for simply cropping clips.

I'm a huge proponent of Audacity. I think it's one of the easier ones to use compared to Nero soundtrax or Audition. My only comlaint about it is that it lacks a feature that would allow the user to cut dead or blank sections automatically.

I highly recommend CD Wave. Its a completely free program that works flawlessly. I tape a lot of live concerts, etc, and use this for everything to split my recordings into tracks and edit parts out. It's easy to learn and will never let you down.

I use Scanner Recorder for the raw feed from the scanner ... then do the final edits with Audacity.
Scanner Recorder can be found for FREE at:

Try audacity 1.3 beta. It has truncate silence option. A setting of -30dB and 500ms works great for me.

I just downloaded the new version...I'm glad they added that feature. Thanks for the heads-up.
