This morning at around 845AM a Citation descending into KFRG spots thick black smoke coming off of a ship on the ocean just off the shore of Long Island....

You're welcome :) I was driving in my car when I first heard the word "smoke" and I thought it was a "smoke-in-the-aircraft" problem.  There was also radio traffic on a coast guard frequency about this but I wasn't able to get a recording of that.

Its just the ships starting their engines, I see it all the time.
