Title: delta 196 engine failure

dal 196 with 152 pax onboard and 17 crew boeing757-200 lost right engine at FL350 over the atlantic and diverted in EINN early sat morning 20/11 enroute from philadelphia to paris here is the atc comms desending out of 270 working shannon......

Nice job on the audio file. Sounds like it was completely contained, a nice switch from the 380 incident. I especially like aTC asking the reason for the engine shutdown Answer:"uh, it stopped working?"

ATC: Delta 196 can you tell the reason for the engine shutdown?
Delta: It's... ah... Failed in flight.
ATC: Failed in flight!?
Delta: Yes.

So it failed - in flight... Really...?  :-D

Is this Shannon Ireland.   The reason is?...." I turned it off for the hell of it to see if the Sim Training would be similar to the real world...  the kept saying good morning and good day, that crew was calm as heck.  I don't think any of those ATC guys have been in the cockpit when your N1 gauge, and EGT goes to zero!!!

Man the ATC just acted like it was nothing....she sounds depressed
