Great save by Boston Tower.

AAL349 taxied right into the approach path of Runway 4R (without ATC clearance) with DAL1386 on close final.

Report from WBZ Boston:

Report from FOX 25 Boston:

Just listened to AA349 on departures - they were told to copy down the dreaded phone number.

Great catch by the controllers.  I am sure this is a bad day for the pilot, but it could of been much worse for many more people.

Something was odd about this... AAL349 was taxiing on RW 14, and for some reason looking for the taxiiway.  I'd like to get the full recording to hear why he was looking for that.  Right at that moment, he must have gone past the hold short line on RW 14, as it sounds like he crossed RW 4R and then did a 180 to return to 4R.  So was the pilot distracted and did not think the hold short line was so close?
