Title: COM1855 emergency - divert to IND 7/16/05
Post by: IndyTower on July 16, 2005, 01:30:51 PM
I had just switched from scanning both IND and ZID to just ZID when I heard this aircraft declare an emergency.  I did my best to keep up with the frequencies, but it can be hard with the delay.  The beeps you'll hear are from my switching freqs.  At some points the audio is a bit scratchy, and when the aircraft is on the ground at IND it's almost impossible to make out what the pilot is saying.  So I apoligize for all that.

That was handled very professionally.  I've heard that Indy Approach controller handle a medical emergency once before and he is an excellent, calm controller.  I was very pleased to hear the audio of the entire emergency and KUDOS to the Pilots and ATC.

CFR did a fine job as well.  It can get very anxious in the cockpit and the pilots did a supurb job.  Calling CFR was a good move as well.

KUDOS,
