- United States of America 🇺🇸 :
On May 22, 2023, at about 2130 local time, a Cessna 172M Skyhawk, registered to Bill Myer Services Inc of Friday Harbor, WA, N12440, was damaged when it experienced a loss of engine power and a subsequent forced landing shortly after takeoff from Bellingham International Airport (BLI/KBLI), Bellingham, Washington.
The sole pilot onboard was not injured.
ADS-B data show that the airplane originated from Eastsound-Orcas Island Airport (ESD/KORS), Washington, at about 2053 local, it proceeded towards KBLI where it conducted it conducted three touch-and-goes. The pilot departed towards the north after the last touch-and-go when the airplane experienced a loss of engine power. The data show that the airplane entered a descending right turn, which ended in a farmfield off Sunset Avenue.
The pilot reported that during takeoff, she experienced engine roughness in the climb-out phase and attempted to return to the airport. Unable to do so, she made and emergency landing.
