Oh man.

"Are you aware you're in the TFR, do you see the F16's?"

I can imagine what he was feeling right about then.

This is a tough recording to listen to.  You can see how it might happen and it's just so embarrassing.

I hate TFRs. They demonize law abiding citizens and make GA a hassle. Government should be for making flying more free, not less free. People don't know where Air Force will be in the first place. They have the mentality that here is a squadron of terrorist-flown Cessna's ready to scramble when they see AF1 coming. Its ridiculous.

I won't comment on the other parts of your post as I'm rather indifferent on the topic but...

People don't know where Air Force will be in the first place.

If you aren't checking for TFRs BEFORE YOU GO UP then you shouldn't be in the air. The FAA doesn't just issue TFRs for VIP/presidential movements, but for potential hazards. So that said, there is absolutely no excuse for not knowing about a TFR.

Poor man,  I would hate to be in his shoes.
I can just imigane just what the was thinking and feeling as he taxied to the tower.
Hope he didn't get in too much trouble, shows how important it is to check all available info before we fly.

What about Stadium TFR's?

What about Stadium TFR's?

If you read my post again, I was ONLY responding to the assertion that pilots don't know where the president will always be and you can't blame them for busting a VIP/Presidential TFR. There is no excuse for that, because you should be checking TFRs for hazards anyway.

As for stadium TFRs, again, I'm rather indifferent - I can see people making arguments either way. That said, playing devil's advocate to what I'm assuming your position on the subject is, when an event is occurring at a large stadium, there is usually an escalated level of traffic due to blimps, helicopters, etc. In that case, one could argue that becomes a hazard so they don't want other GA in the area. The midair collision of two new helicopters covering a Phoenix police chase years ago goes to show there is real danger with that much air traffic in one area. Again, just playing devil's advocate here.

Umm. No.  They deamonize morons who refuse to the most basic required preflight planning.
