Canforce 01 returns to Ottawa due to flaps issue.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's airplane, Canforce 01 (an Airbus A310) was forced to return back to the Ottawa Airport due to flaps issue.

00:07Z [8:07 PM EDT]: Canforce 01 (CFC01), airplane for the Prime Minister of Canada, receives Clearance to Brussels

00:59Z [8:59 PM EDT]: CFC01 requests taxi for Rwy 32.

01:00Z [9:00 PM EDT]: Ottawa Ground instructs CFC01 to cross Rwy 25

01:01Z [9:01 PM EDT]: Change in taxi instructions given.

01:04Z [9:04 PM EDT]: Ottawa Ground asks whether CFC01 was holding short of Rwy 25.

01:05Z [9:05 PM EDT]: Further taxi instructions given to CFC01

01:07Z [9:07 PM EDT]: Police vehicles confirms their off Rwy 25 and subsequently off Rwy 32.

01:08Z [9:08 PM EDT]: CFC01 on Ottawa Tower holding short of Rwy 32, awaiting a Boeing 767-300 Air Canada 466 (ACA466) from Toronto to land.

01:11Z [9:11 PM EDT]: Ottawa Tower instructs CFC01 to line-up Rwy 32.

01:11Z [9:11 PM EDT]: Ottawa Tower instructs ACA466 to exit Rwy 32 at taxiway D.

01:12Z [9:12 PM EDT]: Ottawa Tower clears CFC01 for takeoff.

01:13Z [9:13 PM EDT]: Ottawa Ground instructs Police vehicles to proceed onto Rwy 32 but exit at taxiway D.

01:14Z [9:14 PM EDT]: CFC01 checks-in with Ottawa Departure at 2500 ft to 5000 ft. ATC instructs CFC01 to climb to 13,000 ft.

01:14Z [9:14 PM EDT]: Police is clear of Rwy 25 while travelling down Rwy 32.

01:15Z [9:15 PM EDT]: CFC01 instructed to turn direct to waypoint TAKOL. CFC01 confirms with ATC what altitude they should be climbing to.

01:15Z [9:15 PM EDT]: Police informs Ottawa Ground that they have exited Rwy 32.

01:15Z [9:15 PM EDT]: Ottawa Departures handoff CFC01 to Montreal Centre.

01:16Z [9:16 PM EDT]: CFC01 checks-in with Montreal Centre at 7700 ft for 13,000 ft and immediately notifies ATC

about a flaps malfunction. ATC takes note and asks CFC01 to notify back if they need to return back to Ottawa.

01:19Z [9:19 PM EDT]: Controller for Ottawa Arrivals/Departure requesting to speak to CFC01 on the frequency, despite CFC01 being with Montreal Centre.

01:24Z [9:24 PM EDT]: CFC01 advises for Controller that they wish to return to Ottawa, requesting Rwy 32 for landing.

01:25Z [9:25 PM EDT]: ATC advises CFC01 to land Rwy 32 (as per request), provides Ottawa’s altimeter, and then asks whether or not they need any assistance after landing.

01:26Z [9:26 PM EDT]: ATC instructs CFC01 to descend to 8000 ft.

01:28Z [9:28 PM EDT]: Montreal Centre handoff CFC01 to Ottawa Arrivals.

01:29Z [9:29 PM EDT]: CFC01 checks-in with Ottawa Arrivals and they are direct waypoint TEXEN. ATC instructs CFC01 to descend to 6000 ft, ATIS is “C”, and asks whether or not they require assistance after landing.

01:29Z [9:29 PM EDT]: [Middle of Conversation] Police speaking with Ottawa Ground requesting their standby position as they wait for CFC01 to land.

01:31Z [9:31 PM EDT]: ATC instructs CFC01 to descend to 3000 ft.

01:32Z [9:32 PM EDT]: ATC asks CFC01 what kind of approach on Rwy 32 they’re doing. CFC01 responds ILS 32.

01:38Z [9:38 PM EDT]: Ottawa Arrivals handoff CFC01 to Ottawa Tower.

01:40Z [9:40 PM EDT]: CFC01 checks in with Ottawa Tower and was given landing clearance.

01:42Z [9:42 PM EDT]: CFC01 given taxi instructions back to the C.R.C. (Canadian Reception Centre). Police requesting to follow CFC01.
