Cactus 787 Diverted from CLT to BGR for Security Issue
« on: May 22, 2012, 01:03:38 PM »
Just saw on CNN where USAir 787 from Paris to CLT was diverted to Bangor for an "unspecified security issue".  Here is the arrival audio from KBGR.  I wonder what happened?

Apparently one passenger (in seat 30F) showed "suspicious behaviour."

According to @AlertNewEngland, a female passenger handed a note to a flight attended stating she had surgically implanted a device inside herself. At some point, though, a doctor onboard the flight examined the woman and found no recent scars.

[edited to remove the word "explosive," as it later came out that the woman never said it was actually an explosive device, per se. Just a "device."]

So the JetBlue captain who clearly was in an unnatural mental state was arrested and officially charged (although later recommended for mental health services), but this lady wasn't....okay then.

Probably because in this case, there was a misunderstanding - the woman meant no harm to the flight and never mentioned anything about terrorism or bombs but in the case of the Jetblue captain he was acting much more threatening and violent and yelled references to terrorism.

Let's not forget that she was denied entry to the US. Why is not clear.  She does seem to have been pretty confused.
