C-37 Bird strike at Midway

SAM652 encountered a bird strike during an evening departure at Midway on Monday.  The flight carried the Chief of the National Guard Bureau, Gen. Daniel R. Hokanson.  The man cleaning the runway characterized the carcass:  "It was a very large bird.  Like a Herring."
