This is just a short clip of the usual Friday evening confusion at JFK.

Just another example of why the FAA needs to do something about the professionalism, or lack of, with the JFK tower. Yes, we've all heard the sad story of controllers working long days, etc. Well, guess what, welcome to the US. Transmissions get missed, get stepped on, etc. That's no excuse to start pouting and tell everyone on the frequency that you're just going to stop working for a minute. The JetBlue pilot was absolutely correct to ask the controller a question. That's a good rule among professional pilots. If there's any question or doubt as to the taxi clearance or our position, we'll just stop the aircraft and talk to ATC. When ATC responds with a sarcastic comment like that, all it does it bring things to a grinding halt.
Yes, this is one of the many reasons that I cry when I see JFK pop up on my schedule. I'll take LGA any day. It's like night and day between the 2.

Wow. That seemed pretty uncalled for by the controller. This is one of those thats not funny nor entertaining. Just makes you wanna ask the guy if really sucks that bad to be him. 807 857 are pretty similar numbers. Doesnt take much comms interference or static to mistake one from the other.

i see where hes commin from... your trying to get people moving, then everyone calls up at once, you try to fix it, it happens again...it gets frustrating.

If someone can't handle a bit of confusion and frustration without a hissy fit I reckon that Kennedy Ground ain't the place to be working!

geez. That was pretty bad. maintaining radio silence at a class B? Just because he was stepped on a few times is no excuse for haveing everybody maintain radio silence. Happens all the time. But when he said that everyone maintain radio silence until it is safe for them to move again is pretty low. Those planes have passengers with places to go. They can't wait for "radio silence". They need to get to their destination.

I'm only an amatuer, but that seems called for in my view. ATC, ESPECIALLY Ground at JFK is tough enough as it is. When you've got 5 airplaines trying to call in at the same time, it's time to stop and re-assess.
May be a bit unprofessional to vioce that on the controllers part (in the way that he did) ...but he has to communicate it somehow.

This kind of stuff is normal at JFK and LGA, unless you guys operate up there often, it may seem unprofessional to the untrained eye, but he did exactly what he should have done and told both A/C to stop and monitor the freq for further instruction. There is very little room for error in these kind of situations, especially when one A/C is reading back a clearance intended for another.

Unless your a controller and have worked or are currently working at a level 10 and up, you can stuff it! You can't tell us anything.

I agree with Jason. This is a monitoring board only. Please don't sit in the back seat posting how a controller should do their job. If you think your that shit hot...apply...IF you checkout...If you make it to level 10...then & only then have you earned the right to comment. (Just because you think you know all...doesn't make it so.)
Enjoy your interest in Aviation & ATC but please don't shit on these VERY hard working people. At the end of his shift all of this controllers aircraft were separated.

You people just can't seem to have a mature discussion can you? Locked. Any more personal attacks or disrespect and you'll start to see those posts disappear. Don't go there. I'm not a babysitter.
The flying public (including pilots) have every right to discuss controller performance, it isn't just limited to CPC's in level 10 facilities or greater. When was the last time you critiqued a pilot's performance? Did you hold an FAA certificate of equal value? C'mon, give me a break.

Try taring a member apart on this board and you'll quickly find out how easy it will be to be one of the first members banned from this forum. These folks aren't taring controllers apart, they're pointing out issues to learn from and what they suspect was the issue. We can all learn from these experiences.
