KOXC and the 6 Choppers
« on: October 12, 2007, 09:23:56 PM »
I overheard this recently.

A group of 6 helicopters cross the Class D airspace of Waterbury-Oxford (CT) through the final approach course, 3 miles south of the airport, without contacting the tower. There was an aircraft inbound at the time.

I edited out some of the larger silent gaps.

My first audio clip post.

Yeah, Iron Horse 2-0. They were pretty far out by the time they came back to tower so the signal was poor.

I assumed they were military. Could be wrong.

Thats what I thought too but then again you would think that a fleet of 6 US miltary helicopters would have some idea of where they were and what airspace they were crossing through.

I would not count on that being true.   They screw up as much or more than anyone else.

No, that's up to 11 pilots that knew where they were, but were afraid to tell the commander he was wrong.    :-D

Either way I would love to see a group of 6 helicopters flying by.  It would look like a Godzilla movie, and sound like the end of the world.

We see Sikorsky test flights around here but never in groups that large.
