UAL1929 Runway Incursion After Landing at KMCO
« on: May 04, 2024, 13:17:29 UTC »
On April 26, UAL1929 had just landed on runway 18R at KMCO and was exiting the runway when the tower instructed them to "taxi via E and hold short of 18L".  The flight crew, on the other hand, read back "taxi via E and cross 18L".  This error was not challenged by the tower controller.  SWA5777 had been given clearance for takeoff on runway 18L and had reached a speed of about 110 Kts when the tower controller cancelled the takeoff clearance.  The Southwest flight crew was able to stop their takeoff roll long before they would have reached the United aircraft crossing the runway.  SWA5777 departed normally about 25 minutes later.
