I heard from a buddy today that there's an audio file out there that is a spoof of an ATIS broadcast from Kansas or Oklahoma somewhere. It apparently broadcasts the worst weather possible... winds at 300 kt, or something like that. Does anyone have this recording?
Thanks

I have one from Minneapolis, it's a pretty funny one, I can email it to you if you want, I'll try to attach it to this post

I'm sure there were a few good ones during Hurricanes Katrina and Ofelia. Hurricane Rita should bring some interesting weather and ATIS broadcasts as well. I'll be posting some ATIS numbers for some of the predicted "hit" areas.

yeah, it is, and believe it or not but FLL ATIS sounds the same ! :?
-
FLL ATIS always sounded normal to me....
-
when I listened to it the other day it sounded just like that, i was told that it's because it's digital ATIS, you'd think they could use better voices !
-
Oh yea, I guess cause your use to the FXE ATIS. Yea, most Charlie's and all Bravo's use D-ATIS. I always liked the voice, except when it does the taxiway closings. It all blends together.

they should have the same voice as the ASOS system

they should have the same voice as the ASOS system
That'd be a good idea, but I believe AWOS and ASOS systems voices' only have recordings for ASOS-ONLY tones/phrases. If they used this voice for the ATIS, it would be a LOT better than the D-ATIS voice now.
Mt. Shasta ASOS is actually a humans voice that recorded all phrases for the AWOS/ASOS system. It has a pretty neat sound.
...not to mention they need to speed up the D- ATIS, it goes so slow now, takes over a minute or two to get all the info.

my fav "perfect paul" ATIS phrase was at Boston (maybe still is?): "Upon receipt of your ATC clearance, please readback only your transponder code and callsign unless you have a question."
This well-poised and mannered phrase just sounds funny juxtaposed to the metar data.

The only airport I have heard use that is LAX. Understandably so, there is probably 15 people waiting for clearance at all times. It's not even so much I like any of the instructions/advisories. I like when it says "Advise of initial contact you have information Deltahhhh". It never can repeat Delta correct or even the mystery pause in every D-ATIS is funny everytime. "Birds reported in the vicinity.......... of Philadelphia International Airport"

We have a preview function for the ATIS at my facility and we do this kind of stuff all the time......good stuff
