I was at work the other day at the ramp tower in Philly, I think it was Friday, and had some free time between banks to just watch the planes come in. The winds were strong, gusting to 30, so most the aircraft were battling the winds all the way to the ground. USAir 1427 heavy, an A330, was having trouble lining up towards the end, and at the last second before touching down, lifted back up to about 40 or 50 feet before trying again and sticking it. At first I thought he was going to go around and come back to try it again.
I have an interphone system in the tower where I can hit a button and monitor the tower and ground freqs through my headset, so I hit North Tower just as I saw that and heard this exchange. I just wish I had a video to go along with it...it was quite a sight.
