Are there any clips of ATC announcing the result over the airwaves? Would be quite nice to hear any.
-
It would be cool to hear it, I wasn't listening to any feeds on Tuesday night though so I'm not sure.
-
I dont think youll find anything, if im not mistaking thats a HUGE no no.
-
I worked that night & I'd certainly not announce it.

Maybe I'm just tired and not thinking straight, but why would it be not ok to announce the winner over the frequency? It can't possibly be for security reasons. I mean, controllers have been known to pass the hockey scores during the stanley cup playoffs, or the football scores at the superbowl. I'm sure someone mentionned that philly won the world series when it happened, so why not for the presidency?

I know there were some results going back and forth on ABQ center.

Sports scores aren't political. There's the rub.

Most federal employees, especially these days in the FAA where they seem to enjoy firing people, will avoid getting close to violating the Hatch Act.

I'm not sure if saying the election results would be in violation. Probably not. I wouldn't want to find out.

Good point guys. Forgot that it's a political piece of info being passed by federal employees (here in Canada, controllers are no longer federal employees since 1996). It's all a private organization now. Not sure if we have similar rules or not though. Will look into it. Any canadian controllers on here know the answer?
