At first I couldn't remember whether it was "Airport" or "Airplane" where I had heard that, but I knew it was one of them, and then the scene came back to me. That was where the genius kid had been looking at the stars and thought they were not on course, he was invited to the cockpit and Dean Martin, I think he was the co-pilot (and the "FBI" guy Zimbalist was the captain) gave the kid that double speak explanation, which the kid was too embarrassed to acknowledge that he didn't understand. Big difference between that scene and, "Joey... do you like gladiator movies?"

Ephram Zimbalist Jr, I think it was.  Why the heck I remember that, I don't know - I think his name was actually spoken at the beginning of each FBI episode, wasn't it?

(And I swear I didn't look that up.)

Maybe the fact that I once had a celebrity crush on Stephanie Zimbalist had something to do with it...  :-D

Edited to add:  OK, now I looked it up.  Two points:  (1) His name is spelled "Efrem", and (2) if you want a laugh, you have to go to the Wikipedia entry for "Airport 1975" and read the plot synopsis.  I had forgotten how dopey those 70's disaster movies were, and how much of a "thing" they were during that period.  Good times!
