From what I understand, they are required to test the autoland system every so often...something like once every 28 landings.

DTAK - thanks for the link, and it was interesting to read about the discussion about the various airlines, etc, but they don't discuss how autoland works (on a more technical level).  Do you have any other resources that may help?

Autoland sounds like a godsend, but how many pilots actually use it (on a regular basis)?
