I hope this tradition never ends. Airline pilots usually taxi their last flight to the gate through streams of water supplied by CFR trucks. This AAL captain was apparently BOS based and had his last flight on late Friday morning.
Try not to get emotional.

Sorry, I did. I have a lot of respect for the KBOS controllers; they are very friendly, nice controllers and they do an excellent job.
Congratulations Captain John!!! 8)

Forced retirements at age 60 are such a shame!
-
Feel even worse for the ATC. Forced retirement is even lower at 56.

I thought I would reference to this article that recently was written:

Beautiful, I am sure Captain John will never forget it. I wonder what they will do when Boston John retires! (For the sake of liveatc.net I hope it isin't any time soon!)
-
that would be a sad day for liveatc when Boston John has
to go
-
Could someone please check on Boston John's age as a matter of urgency? Clearly we will all need time to adjust to this site not having his entertaining perfomances. His picture looks like we don't have to worry anytime soon, his voice sounds older.
When he is forced to retire he'll have to post ancedotes on this site instead. I'm sure he must have a wealth of funny stories to tell.

My wife and I travelled on a Canadair flight from Whitehorse to Vancouver being piloted by a captain on his last flight. When on the ground in Vancouver the pax were told what was going on. The plane taxied between fire hoses on both sides with lots of flashing lights and sirens. It was cool to see.
