I went looking for the most recent situation with American Air Flight 759.

If you have been reading or watching the news you saw that they got really bad turbulence off of Long Island.

I went looking for the Audio and all I could find was the Landing Clearance / Vacate instructions. I wasn't able to find anything on approach and center.

Has anyone else tried looking for this Audio?  I have posted the little bit I have.
If you can add to it that would be great.

Thanks,

Chris

off long island should be ZBW?

the two audio feeds i would check
Boston Center (HTO31 Sector)
Boston Center (SOUTHIE49 Sector)

unfortunately these two feeds are down since beginning of august :/
but i'm quite sure that are the frequencies they could've been at the tip of long island.

after that they could have maybe been on new york / washington center
New York Center (Sector 86 Atlantic)   133.500
Washington Center (Sector 59 Sea Isle Hi)   133.125
but to be honest they may be already a little low at that point and so far i didn't hear anything when skipping through the relevant  bits.

now before the turbulence encounter you can hear them on:
Boston Center (ACK17 Sector)   133.450  ....... 18:20Z switched to 128.75
(you should be able to find them on 33.45 before that time but i didn't check that)
Boston Center (CAPE18 Sector)   128.750 ....... 18:29:59Z cleared to descend FL280
can't find the switch to the next frequency but ack17 takes scan priority it seems over cape18 :)

but other planes flying similar routes are being switched to the frequencies i mentioned above which are out of service at the moment. so i assume they were switched there.

after that it goes to a guessing game where they were switched for the abnormal descent. they went straight towards philadelphia.

and with a little educated guessing who's airspace they were descending through i found them again at 18:51Z checking in with
New York Departure (Liberty South)   124.750 (https://www.liveatc.net/archive.php?m=kewr_app_lib_s)

18:54Z descend 14000ft
18:55Z descend 13000ft
18:57Z descend 10000ft
18:59Z contact PHL approach 119.75

yeah and so on i guess you should be able to find the rest :)

I have always looked for a map which shows which areas are covered by which Tracons, Centers. etc....

I have Flight Radar 24 and use that a lot along with Flight Aware.

Do you happen to know where i can get a map of the coverage areas?

Thanks,

Chris

JetScan1 has made two nice maps ZBW and eastern seaboard.

https://forums.liveatc.net/artccfirtracon-maps/

the liberty south frequency for example is not on there though, i just know jfk departure gives quite a few handoffs to that frequency for departures heading robbinsville VOR.

To fill in the blanks from wiedehopf's post above.

The incident happened while the flight was at FL280 working Boston on 124.52 (the frequency after 128.75). Unfortunately as noted the LiveATC radio monitoring 124.52 was down at the time.

After 124.52 the next frequency is New York 128.300. The LiveATC JFK#3 radio covers this frequency and you can hear the flight checking in around 18:43Z, you can hear them declaring a medical emergency, reporting injuries, getting cleared direct to PHL, and descent to 16000, then handed off to New York on 118.97 at around 18:50Z.

Then as noted in wiedehopf's post above. Except the aircraft is on New York Center 118.97, not New York Approach Liberty South 124.75. While 124.75 is the only frequency listed the radio was actually monitoring both 118.97 and 124.75 at the time.
