Title: AA 1705....Too much gas
Post by: silagi on April 19, 2011, 10:21:27 PM
Strange to hear this after this long of a flight but an AA MD80 needed to burn off some gas prior to landing at SJC after a flight from DFW this afternoon.

Yes they were doing a 360 to get them below landing weight...

I hear this a couple times a month in bad weather at KROC. On a nice windy day we'll have winds from 290 at 25 knots gusting over 40.  The crosswinds seem to be too high for runway 22 and runway 28 is too short for a heavy landing, especially when wet or snow-covered.
