Title: A380 @ CYVR Vancouver!
Post by: Tomato on December 12, 2006, 12:38:33 AM
Okay, so... this is really delayed but I had hours of recording I had to go through (since I basically recoded the whole day) and I didn't have time to really edit it down.  Nonetheless, here we go...

ARRIVAL
The overweight-double-decker jet arrived at CYVR Vancouver shortly after 0733 local time on Rwy 08L.  The great A380 flew in with callsign AIRBUS-403.

Shortly before, Phillipine Airlines had a problem after takeoff and did a fuel dump ~100sm away.  Phillipine 107 returned to CYVR with equipment, hogging Rwy 08R.  :)

All talk about the A380 and Phillipine Airlines is included in the clip.

DEPARTURE
Contrary to news reports, the A380 flight out was not cancelled... possibly delayed (but still not cancelled).  Airbus callsign AIRBUS-404 departed Vancouver, or as I like to say...

The A380 faded away on 134.4, good'day!

One pilot remarks: that's a nice airplane you have on the runway there!.  Also included was Helijet-209, who was honoured to be close to the A380 flight.  Unfortunately, Tower had to send Helijet back to Arrivals for a different Runway... poor Helijet!

I don't remember, but somewhere in the whole radio talk (might or might not be included in the clips) - a pilot comments that the PAPI is not on.  ATC replied that the PAPI is on, but just covered in snow...

Sorry about the poor quality... but otherwise Enjoy!  :)

Actually, these are not bad!

And honestly.. the PAL emergency sounded a lot more interesting than the Beast arriving! :-D

But 8nm separation?!? Ouch.  :-o
