A Cessna C152 caught fire after landing at Brookhaven Airport in Shirley just before 10:30 a.m. Friday, 12 February. The two people on board escaped injury. The aircraft had taken off from Long Island MacArthur Airport.

I was out driving around and heard this come over the police band...it came over as "aircraft engulfed in flames, possible entrapment". Glad to hear the pilots got out. Forgot to look at the Liveatc feeds when I got home. Thanks for posting this Geoff!
Interesting though...the report in your link says the plane was "significantly damaged" by the fire. Looking at the pictures I'd say that damage assessment was seriously understated :-) More like disintegrated!
