Condor 010 had an electrical burning smell and problem with the radio on approach to Minneapolis. They declared pan-pan. When they were switched to tower the tower had problem to communicate with them. Approach even gave them a landing clearance in case they were still on that frequency. They were finally able to respond and landed safely on runway 12R. They asked for the emergency vehicles to follow them to the gate and board the aircraft there to check it out.

I do believe that the link is of the incident even though the conversation described in it is a bit different.

I'm guessing the average controller in the USA doesn't hear Pan-Pan calls all that often. He figured it out soon enough.

It sounded like their radio got worse over time?

Aloha,

John
