The final scheduled flight of Air Berlin landed in Berlin on Friday, October 27th. After almost 40 years, the airline is bankrupt and.shutting down its operations.

Final arrival:

Final ATC coms, mostly in German though, even though Captain David McCaleb is a US american, who had been flying for Air Berlin for 27 years. The final flight was using the call sign BER4EVR ("air berlin for ever"). The tower controller let them know, their arrival was not only covered by live TV and thousands of spectators, but that the tower was also packed with lots of off-duty controllers, who all wanted to witness their final flight. They can be heard cheering after the last transmission.
