Fatal accident...

On July 22, 2024, at about 1213 local time, an experimental, amateur-built Lancair Super ES, registered to an individual out of Philadelphia, PA, N18BG, was destroyed when it impacted terrain while on approach to land at Oshkosh Regional Airport (OSH/KOSH), Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The two occupants onboard sustained fatal injuries. The flight originated from Hartford Municipal Airport (KHXF), Hartford, Wisconsin, and was destined to KOSH.
According to flighttracking history, N18BG departed from Trenton-Mercer Airport (KTTN), Trenton, New Jersey, at about 0804 LT, on a flight to KHXF. The airplane landed there at about 1057 LT.
According to Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B) data, at 1145 LT, the airplane departed from runway 27 at KHXF and entered a climbing left turn to a cruising altitude of about 2200 ft. The flight appears uneventful.
At about 1211:05 LT, the airplane started a descent towards the west (to OSH).
At 1713:03 LT, the airplane entered a right turn.
At 1713:32 LT, the airplane was at 950 ft, 91 knots, and entered the left base for runway 36.
At about 1713:46 LT, the airplane was at 975 ft, 59 knots, when the last ADS-B return was recorded about 1.50 miles south of the approach end of runway 36.
A preliminary review of the LiveATC recording suggests the aircraft was informed by the local controller about following a flight of two L39 high-performance jets "in the opposite right base", the controller told the pilot to "widen it out" and follow the two aircraft to runway 36L and cleared him to land at or after the yellow dot. There were no further communications from the accident aircraft.

The accident aircraft, MSN 02G, was a four-seat, fixed-landing gear, composite airplane was equipped with a 310-horsepower Continental IO-550 engine.
According to the POH, the stall speed (VsO) is 65 mph or 56 knots.
