Attached is the ATC recording of Air Berlin 7001 departing Miami on Sunday, October 15th 2017 for the final time. This was not just Air Berlin's final flight from Miami to Duesseldorf, but one of their final long haul flights altogether. Air Berlin continues to fly some European short haul routes for a few days, but will completely shut down operations later this month.
On the next day, on arrival at Duesseldorf, the AB7001's captain gave an emotional farewell speech and infamously "buzzed the tower" at Duesseldorf (recordings of both are all over Youtube now).
The final departure from Miami was uneventful, however. Business as usual. But a recording not to be repeated.
