Post by: GeoffSM1 on November 13, 2017, 05:51:21 PM
An elderly plane passenger who fell ill on his flight to Newcastle from Tenerife has died.
The 81-year-old man became ill on board Jet2 flight LS518 on Sunday night, Airlive reports.
The Boeing 737-800 plane was diverted to Cork airport when the man became distressed and his condition began to deteriorate, within the first hour of the flight.
When the plane landed at 7.15pm in Cork, the man was rushed to the terminal and immediately received treatment from medical staff. Sadly the man was pronounced dead shortly after, despite the efforts of the medics.

All passengers on the flight were brought to the departure hall, where they waited until a replacement flight arrived.
A replacement flight for the remaining passengers was provided at 10.30pm, which brought them to their destination.
