1 Oct: Rough day at JFK!

Act I: DL420 (JFK-->ACC) aborts takeoff, requests long taxi to cool off brakes. Brakes catch fire. Trucks roll.

Act II: DL2292 (LGA-->MSP) has suspected bird strike on initial climb out of LaGuardia and diverts to JFK. Lands overweight, so trucks roll. Again.

Ouch!

Thank you for posting these. Here is a bit more of the conversation with DL420.

There has been a lot of these double events a JFK recently.
About a week ago approach had two emergencies at the same time that both wanted to go to the same runway. It got solved when one asked for delayed vectors to work on their problem.
The day after two Qatar Airways flights had fuel emergencies landing 20 minutes apart. At the same time the first one landed and said they wouldn't need any more assistent the second checked in with minimum fuel on approach. Both also had a missunderstanding on how much fuel they had left and tower got a little pissy with departure for not telling him why they had a stop on departures.
