TRACON identifiers

Hello-

I was wondering if there is a list that has all US TRACON indentifiers (ex. C90=ORD, Y90=BDL, N90=JFK).  How are the identifiers coded? Does the 90 mean something?

This will help finish an ATC sim I'm building.

This is a good question, and I'm not sure how they are coded, but I do know that the numbers and letters change. For example, OMA TRACON is R90, Phoenix is P90 (or might be P50; I always get that one confused). NorCal just went from N90 to NCT, SoCal is SCT, Las Vegas is L30.

So I'm not sure how that works, but they definitely to change.

Brad, I don't think Norcal was ever N90. Norcal went from being Bay to "Sierra Approach" to Norcal Approach. N90 is, and has always been New York TRACON.

This method will work, but it's a bit labor-intensive.

Start here (may be other interesting stuff for you):

then 7350.7 Location Identifiers, or here:

http://www.faa.gov/airports_airtraffic/air_traffic/publications/at_orders/media/LID.pdf

then look at United States, Decode, Letter-Two Number, or search for "tracon" in your PDF viewer.

Agreed! thanks for this! Question though.. how old is this list?

I ask because MCC and O90 were absorbed into NCT a few years ago, when they combined; I want to say that happened ~2003 - 2004.

I don't know how old the list is, it comes from a NATCA database.  I realized when I posted it that there were some identifiers on there that were dated or obsolete, A90 being another one.  I left them in so if anyone ever needed them they could still be referenced.
