ZDC Update (Spring 2021)

JetScan1:
ZDC Update.

Washington Center is updating some of their sectors along the east coast. Attached is an update from the FAA, you can see the new sector boundaries on pages 14-15, no new frequency information is listed though. The new sectors were supposed to be in effect by November 2020 but have been delayed until April 2021. Keep an ear out for that new Sector 30, FL400 and above.

RonR:
Hey Jet,

How are you doing? I hope all is well :)

Do you know if these updates ever went into effect? From what I can tell, nothing has really changed on the frequency side...

Ron

MIAMIATC:
Hey Ron and Darryl ,

Have to relearn new waypoints, routes, and STARS/SIDs after 40 years isnt an easy task. They just coulddnt leave things alone and this goes for CPDLC as well . The Airline tracking and montoring hobby has become lumbersome

I'm not sure, have not heard it myself. The latest update (see attached image) issued November 3, 2021 seems to indicate the new sector was supposed to be activated now on November 4, 2021. However there is a disclaimer that says "all 2021 dates subject to change due covid-19". If anyone hears anything please let us know. This new sector would be the airspace that sits over both Washington Sectors 120.750 and 118.825, FL400 and above.

MIAMIATC:
I am still hearing handoffs from ZMA 135.05/134.85 sector going to 118.825 at the altitudes over FL400
